Sloth．Tim

A sloth who never seems to be fully awake, and has the unusual talent of being able to suddenly fall asleep mid-conversation ("talent" is a kind way of putting it). However, this slow-moving, muddle-headed inmate seems to have a secret. You once noticed him shaking dirt out of his pants, which reminded you of a scene from a classic movie.

Tim was a fund manager at a large investment bank before he was imprisoned. His movements may have been slow, but the speed at which he helped investors make money was very fast. Due to the heavy demands from work and his unsociable personality, Tim was still single at middle age, despite being a wealthy man.

His house was in the affluent Riverside area, a veritable who's who of successful businesspeople, actors, and politicians. But Tim was not interested in them. There was only one thing he wanted to do after work every day: sleep.

However, one day, someone came along and changed all that. Her name was Daisy. Her husband Cameron owned a hotel business, and had rented a house next door to Tim's a few months earlier. However, he was rarely there, so Daisy was usually alone. Like Tim, she did not like to go out. Her favorite pastime was sunbathing by the pool.

Tim's bedroom window overlooked Daisy's backyard. Her beauty was truly breathtaking; not even Tim could take his eyes off her. However, she saw him staring at her one day. Unexpectedly, she did not get mad, but called up and started talking to him. The shy Tim made Daisy laugh, and soon they became friends, but only "window friends".

Tim would try to invite Daisy out for walks or to come over, but she always politely declined. At first, he thought it might just be because she is married, but then she revealed the truth during a casual conversation. Although she lived in the house, she did not have a key, and her controlling husband kept her inside like a caged bird. Never one to miss a detail, Tim noticed that every time Cameron came over, there would be loud music coming from the house and the next day Daisy would be covered in bruises from the night's "dancing".

Daisy was a stage actress who dreamed of making it big. She moved from a small town to the big city, but did not have the right connections to make her dream come true. The rich, powerful Cameron agreed to support her, but the price was that she give him her youth. Perhaps losing hope for the future, Daisy married the much older Cameron. But a marriage bought for money is not destined to be a happy one. The buyer soon lost interest in the merchandise, and Daisy was gradually reduced to little more than the recipient of Cameron's drunken violence.

Daisy smiled bitterly with her bruised mouth, as if she had long accepted her fate. But the more calmly she spoke, the more Tim's heart ached.

It was yet another night of noise coming from the house, and Cameron seemed to be drinking even more than usual. Even the speakers turned up to their loudest could not drown out Daisy's agonized screams. Tim sat up in his bed and made a decision: "No, I won't sleep tonight. I must put an end to this."

When he had finished venting his rage, Cameron stormed out of the house. From his slurred speech, it was clear that he was going to his mistress' house for a very different kind of release. However, two flashing headlights stopped him in his tracks. As the lights came closer, he attempted to stagger away, but he was too slow, even slower than a sloth.

Cameron never met Tim, and he never will.
