Princess Alyssa:[mermaid language] Coralia... aquan... lumara ira...
Doug the Fisherman:Sally, what did Alyssa just say? I don't understand.
Sally the Maid:She asked me to take you away from here.
Doug the Fisherman:No! Tell her I'll never leave her behind. I'll never forget our promise!
Princess Alyssa:[mermaid language] Enthalora... vathara sirena... mara valis... (then begins singing)
Sally the Maid:Her song says that she doesn't want to be separated from you, but she's about to be crowned queen. She will have to remain in the deepest depths, and you won't be able to withstand the pressure there.
Doug the Fisherman:Then why don't you come with us, Alyssa? We'll go to dry land together and leave that wretched throne to your greedy brother.
Princess Alyssa:[mermaid language] Nari... valenthra... mara...

Doesn't Doug realize that Princess Alyssa can't go to dry land with him?

It's a true romantic tragedy. The fisherman and the mermaid princess can never be together.
Fox.Thomas
And the maid is secretly in love with him, but has no choice but to hide her feelings.

That Doug isn't too sharp. Didn't he realize that Sally the maid loves him more than Princess Alyssa does?
Fox.Thomas
And the princess' feelings for Sally are more complex than just master and servant.
Fox.Thomas
Not to mention the princess' stupid brother. What he's fighting for isn't the throne, it's...
Fox.Thomas
Never mind. Maybe the whirlpool he summoned at the end was just a whirlwind of emotion.
